Contemporary art exhibition
«A stitch in time saves nine»
co-curated by Nansy Charitonidou και Bill Psarras
// 25 September – 3 October 2021
// Garden of the former Paper Factory, Aigio, Greece
The exhibition explores the curatorial interest on the dynamic link between text and textile. Words and threads form conceptual units for journeys, narratives and revolutions. They link worlds with the hope of a message, highlighting practices and methodologies; the message acts as passing thread, tactilely structured as a clew in labyrinth-like eras.
In the contemporary art exhribition participate three Greek visual artists, Maria Varela, Myrto Xanthopoulou and Yiannis Pappas. The artists will present new commissioned works of art which highlight the dialogue with the historical, social and geological impact of the Corinthian currant and the Paper factory, while connecting two centuries of memory and production. The artworks – paper textile synthesis from historical algorithms, site-epecific mioxed media installations and objects where the ephemeral and the textile meet – re-approach centuries-old practices such as weaving and writing through an interdisciplinary and inter-artistic prism.
