AGALIS MANESSI

Agalis Manessi (1952) was born in Corfu, Greece and studied Ceramics at the Central School of Art in London. The potential for clay to be transformed from a soft and malleable material into a permanent ceramic object, through the impact of fire, has been a driving fascination through her creative practice. Her inspiration draws upon the vast history of classical subjects and images observed in churches, museums and galleries as well as experiences and observations made directly from life. For the past forty years she has maintained studios in London and Corfu and has exhibited regularly in the UK and across Europe. Her work is in many public and private collections and was recently featured in the New York Times Style Magazine.
