MARIA TSAGKARI

 

Maria Tsagkari was born in Piraeus (1981). She studied Conservation and restoration of Antiquities and Works of Art at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. She graduated in 2005, with a dissertation on the work of Alexis Akrithakis. She has worked as conservator for the National Gallery in Athens and for private collections. In 2006 she continued her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 2007-8 she was granted a scholarship by IKY to study at the Facultad de Βellas Αrtes in Madrid. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2010 and pursued a Master’s in Fine Arts, which she completed in 2012. Since 2012 she has been working as a teacher at the Athens School of Fine Arts as well as in the private sector. In 2014 she won an award by the Franco-Hellenic institution HYam in Paris for the New Artistic scene in the Mediterranean. She has participated in several exhibitions, including: AQUA, Contemporary Artists and Water Issues in SESC Belenzinho, São Paulo, Brazil and in Geneva, STANDART, 1st Triennial of Contemporary Art in Armenia, Coup de Ville, Triennial of Contemporary Architecture in Belgium, 4th Biennale of Contemporary Art, Everywhere but now in Thessaloniki, A fresh, A new generation of Greek artists, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens.
